Felipe Massa, Alonso's Ferrari teammate, had to settle for second place in Germany, with Sebastian Vettel third, Lewis Hamilton fourth, and Jenson Button fifth. Mark Webber, Robert Kubica, Nico Rosberg, Michael Schumacher, and Vitaly Petrov rounded out the Top 10.

Hamilton holds a 157-143 lead on McLaren-Mercedes teammate Button in the drivers championship heading into Hungary, with RBR-Renault drivers Webber and Vettel tied for third place with 136 points. Alonso is fifth in those standings with 123 points.

McLaren-Mercedes leads RBR-Renault 300-272 in the constructors championship after 11 events, with Ferrari in third place with 208 points.

Hamilton won the Hungarian Grand Prix last season, holding off Kimi Raikkonen and Webber to take the checkered flag. Button was seventh, while Vettel (suspension) and Alonso (fuel pump) both failed to finish the race.

After racing in Hungary the drivers of Formula 1 will head north for the Belgium Grand Prix on August 29. The season's final races will then be held in Italy, Singapore, Japan, South Korea, Brazil, and the United Arab Emirates.
